1.     Short Stories and Writing Process   [PAPER]

5.     Comprehensive English 9A Final Exam

 

ENGLISH 9A AND 9B ONGOING ACTIVITIES:

·        “No-excuse” spelling lists (pretests, activities, final tests)  (9A only)

·        Daily Oral Language (D.O.L.)  This is application of last term’s concepts of parts of speech identification, comma rules, semicolons, colons, apostrophes, double and single quotation marks, underlining and parts of speech usage (subject-verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent agreement, proper use of pronoun case, active vs. passive voice, confusing verbs, comparison of adjectives and adverbs, choosing between adjectives and adverbs, modifier placement).

·        Journal writing

·        Vocabulary building in context of the literature, SAT words, Latin prefixes and suffixes

·        Maintaining a writing folder recording goals/progress

 

ENGLISH 9A MAJOR PAPERS

·        Multi-paragraph paper based on the Short Story Unit
