  1. Decorate your journal cover.  Be sure to cover it with clear contact paper, packaging tape, or strips of scotch tape.

  1. Prepare Oral Interp. project by doing this--make two copies of the poem, mark it up, plan visual,  write intro & conclusion, look for poetic devices, vocab, theme, practice reading it aloud. 
  2. Turn in a sheet Monday, Jan 5th to the teacher submitting your poem.  Include the following: title of poem, poet, copy the poem down double-spaced with the lines numbered, mark two poetic devices, tell why you really want to do this poem, ask the teacher any questions you want about the poem.
  3. Research your poet's biography.  Study the poem for its themes, tone, poetic devices, etc.  Make notecards. Practice reading the poem aloud.
