DO THE "ENDS" REALLY JUSTIFY THE MEANS?

  1. NX-B Spelling sentences--topic = TITLES AND NUMBERS AND NO ABBREVIATIONS!   Technical focus of the week:  punctuating titles and using numbers corectly.  No abbreviations! You must put a different type of title in each sentence. Also, use a number correctly in each sentence.  Refer to the GRS sections we highlighted today in class for the rules for punctuating/writing titles and numbers!

  4. Start research on a TKM allusion chosen from GROUP #1 in the TKM packet page 16.  DUE MONDAY!  Do one side. minimum of notes on this TKM allusion from Group #1 (from chaps. 1-8) and WORKS CITED! CHOOSE ONLY ONE ALLUSION TOPIC !   You are to write at least one side of a page of "meaty" notes. 

    HOW THE NOTES SHOULD BE WRITTEN:

    • Do not think of notes as like a journal.  You should not be filling up every line margin to margin with text.      Remember these are NOTES!  You will get 5 points for 2 sides of a page of notes.
    • Use COLOR,  BOXES, CIRCLES, HIGHLIGHTING,  SKIP LINES, VARY CAPITALIZATION, etc. to make your notes come ALIVE!  Research tells us you will remember the material better when you use these techniques.

    Also, another another sheet of paper, do a works cited page--write up your source info (author, title of article, source, date of publication, place of publication, page numbers (if applicable), URL (if applicable))   It might be a really, really good idea to print out an actual copy of the online source in case you need it later to do the works cited.  print out the first  page from the website you used OR photocopy a page from the source you used.  Make sure you use your PINK WORKS CITED  SECTION  for online sources (pp. WC 26-WC36) IN OUR EPHS ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SURVIVAL MANUAL If needed, click HERE for the WC (Works Cited) section--pink (rev. 11.22.09)

Start research on a TKM allusion chosen from GROUP #1 in the TKM packet page 16.  DUE TUESDAY!  Do one side. minimum of notes on this TKM allusion from Group #1 (from chaps. 1-8) and WORKS CITED! CHOOSE ONLY ONE ALLUSION TOPIC !   You are to write at least one side of a page of "meaty" notes. 

    HOW THE NOTES SHOULD BE WRITTEN:

    • Do not think of notes as like a journal.  You should not be filling up every line margin to margin with text.      Remember these are NOTES!  You will get 5 points for 2 sides of a page of notes.
    • Use COLOR,  BOXES, CIRCLES, HIGHLIGHTING,  SKIP LINES, VARY CAPITALIZATION, etc. to make your notes come ALIVE!  Research tells us you will remember the material better when you use these techniques.

    Also, another another sheet of paper, do a works cited page--write up your source info (author, title of article, source, date of publication, place of publication, page numbers (if applicable), URL (if applicable))   It might be a really, really good idea to print out an actual copy of the online source in case you need it later to do the works cited.  print out the first  page from the website you used OR photocopy a page from the source you used.  Make sure you use your PINK WORKS CITED  SECTION  for online sources (pp. WC 26-WC36) IN OUR EPHS ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SURVIVAL MANUAL If needed, click HERE for the WC (Works Cited) section--pink (rev. 11.22.09)

    After you have actively read the story, write a minimum of one side of a page giving your response to the story (Ideas:  Like it?  How would you rate it?  What questions do you have about it?  What do you think will happen at the end? Anything else you want to share?).  Turn in your actively read copy of the story AND your response page.
