  3. JOURNAL 3 (J3) "Letter from Brother to Sons" (minimum of one side of a page)--Follow the directions on the back of the pink quiz on "The Scarlet Ibis."  If you don't have a pink quiz, follow these directions as best as you can

J ___  LETTER FROM BROTHER TO SONS (1 side minimum)

You are Doodle’s brother—now an adult.  Your age is 35, and it has been 23 years since Doodle’s death.  You have two sons—Jeremy and William—who are the same age as you and Doodle were when he died.  They are rummaging in the attic and find an old photograph of a little boy.  The photograph says, “MY BROTHER DOODLE” on the back.  You have never told them about Doodle.  This is a very difficult thing for you to do.  Think about what the brother would say to the children.

So, if you, the brother in "The Scarlet Ibis,”  were an adult age 35 and had two sons, Jeremy and William,

    ·        what would you tell them about Doodle,

    ·        what you would have done differently in the situation,

    ·        what did you learn from having a brother like Doodle, and

    ·        what life advice would you give them

You must talk about each of these

Then, evaluate the story.  What rating would you give it out of 5 stars and why?
